Gabriella Charalambous BPsy MCP
I'm a British-Cypriot therapist based in Paris, offering therapy in English to adults and adolescents (14 and over), both in person and online. Having grown up between different cultures and experienced the challenges of adapting to life in France myself, I appreciate how our backgrounds, identities and life experiences can shape how we see ourselves and navigate the world.
My practice is grounded in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), an evidence-based approach that helps people better understand their difficulties, recognise unhelpful patterns and develop practical skills to face challenges effectively. I also incorporate techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT).

I completed a Master’s in Clinical Psychology at the University of Strasbourg. I have gained experience across a range of clinical settings, including inpatient and outpatient psychiatric services, working with adolescents and adults experiencing a broad range of psychological difficulties. Alongside my clinical work, I am involved in research exploring the therapeutic experiences and preferences of LGBTQIA+ and autistic individuals, in collaboration with King's College London. I have also carried out research on premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD), which deepened my interest in often overlooked mental health experiences.
The kind of issues I can help with include:
● Anxiety disorders (worry, social anxiety, panic attacks & phobias)
● Mood disorders (depression, bipolar disorder & pre-menstrual dysphoric disorder)
● Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
● Trauma-related difficulties
● Personality disorders
● Emotional regulation difficulties
● Work and study stress (burnout, academic pressure, perfectionism)
● Sleep difficulties
● Adolescent issues
My approach is warm, approachable and non-judgemental. I aim to create a space where you feel genuinely heard, understood and comfortable being yourself. I believe that effective therapy is built on trust, empathy and collaboration. Together, we'll explore what matters most to you and establish meaningful, achievable goals, ensuring that you play an active role in shaping your therapy.
I take a strengths-based approach, recognising that therapy isn't simply about addressing difficulties but also about identifying and building on your existing strengths, resources and resilience. My aim is to help you understand the patterns that may be contributing to your difficulties while developing practical strategies that work for you.
You don't need a formal diagnosis to benefit from therapy. You might be feeling overwhelmed, stuck or disconnected, experiencing difficulties in your relationships or simply wanting to better understand yourself. Therapy can offer an opportunity to explore your thoughts, emotions and behaviours, clarify your personal values and find new ways of responding to life's challenges.
In my work with adolescents, I help them better understand their experiences, develop practical coping skills and build confidence in navigating life's challenges. I also recognise the important role of parents and caregivers. Where appropriate, I involve them in the therapeutic process while respecting the young person's privacy, autonomy and individual needs. I also work with international and expatriate clients, offering support with mental health difficulties as well as questions of identity, belonging and cultural adjustment.
I am particularly committed to providing LGBTQIA+-affirming and culturally sensitive care. I understand that experiences of discrimination, stigma and minority stress can have a profound impact on wellbeing. Above all, I want therapy to be a space where your identity and experiences are respected, and where you feel free to explore difficulties at your own pace.
Taking the first step towards therapy can feel daunting, particularly if you're unsure what to expect or where to begin. Whatever brings you here, you're very welcome. I look forward to getting to know you, understanding what you're going through and working together to help you move forward with greater confidence and clarity.
