Kathy Martin BSc, MCP

I am a British psychologist who has lived in France for more than two decades. My work encompasses families of all types, including relationship therapy for couples, perinatal support for parents and babies, and therapy with adolescents (14+).

I qualified as a Clinical Psychologist in 2008 after a career path which included fashion and wellness PR in London and film production in the UK, France and India.  My professional and life experiences (moving to France in my twenties and bringing up three children in a bilingual environment whilst pursuing my professional qualifications) has given me an all-round perspective on life's challenges as well as its riches.

I have a BSc Hons in Psychology from the University of Exeter and a Masters in Clinical Psychology and Psychopathology from the University of Strasbourg.  My bilingual and bicultural post-graduate and continuing professional education has been a constant source of clinical enrichment and intellectual stimulation as I moved from the science-based perspective of my Bachelor's degree in Psychology to a more psychoanalytically oriented Masters degree in Strasbourg.

My work with people goes beyond purely talking therapy approaches, and incorporates Mindfulness, Somatic, Attachment, Trauma-focused and Polyvagal aspects. I adopt an integrative approach with patients. I believe it is important that all aspects of a situation are carefully considered in order to tailor the right therapy for each person.

My work with infants has taught me the fundamental importance of providing a securely attached base for therapy. As such, empathy, compassion and a non-judgemental attitude are key to my practice as a therapist.
