Nicole Carson BA, MA, PhD

Hello there! I am a Clinical Psychologist and Neuropsychologist from Canada. I completed my Master’s degree and Doctorate (PhD) in Clinical Psychology (with a specialization in Neuropsychology) at York University in Toronto. In addition to training in multiple highly regarded hospitals and academic centres in Toronto, I completed my predoctoral clinical internship in Vancouver. I have worked in a range of settings including hospitals, university-run clinics, and private practices. I am licensed in Ontario, Canada, with declared competencies in clinical psychology and clinical neuropsychology.

I aim to create an empathic and trusting environment in all therapy sessions and I draw on evidence-based therapies, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Client-Centred Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Mindfulness to help clients meet their goals. Therapy sessions are always individually tailored to the needs of each client.

I specialize in providing assessment and therapy for adults (18 years +) who are experiencing the following:

  • Depression

  • Anxiety and worry

  • Stress

  • Reduced motivation

  • Low self-esteem

  • Perfectionism

  • Insomnia

  • Isolation and loneliness

  • Work and study stress

  • Assertiveness problems

  • Difficulties coping with physical health conditions

  • Thinking problems due to mental health and/or specific brain-related conditions

My expertise in neuropsychology additionally provides me with the knowledge of brain-behaviour relationships that occur when we experience difficulties with our mental health. Sometimes symptoms of anxiety and depression can affect our thinking, such as creating difficulties with attention, memory, and organization. I have additional proficiency in evaluating and treating specific brain-related conditions, such as concussion, traumatic brain injury, stroke, brain tumour, brain infection, mild cognitive impairment, and dementia. I have specific training in cognitive rehabilitation of thinking skills.

I am based in Paris, and I certainly understand the joys as well as some of the trials and tribulations of being an English-speaking expat here. Let’s work together to ensure that you are thriving in your daily life!
